About Tom Shumate Surveyor

Learn More About The Shumates

The Shumates are a surveying family and have been for several generations. The elder Shumate, Tom Sr., began surveying in the U.S. Navy while serving in the construction corps known as the Seabees. Sporting a "CAN DO" motto toward their work, the Seabees, like bees, build from scratch. The Shumate family picked up on Tom Sr.'s philosophy and apply that same "CAN DO" motto to all of their work.

A time-honored profession in the Old Dominion, surveying was the chosen profession of several Virginia founders, including George Washington and Thomas Jefferson. Jefferson's father, Peter, was a land surveyor, as were famed explorers Meriwether Lewis and William Clark. Today it's a bit more sophisticated. Tom Shumate Surveyor employs all of the lastest digital surveying technology to mark the most accurate boundaries for their clients.

Whether your project is in the Shenandoah Valley, the Blue Ridge Mountains, the Rockfish Valley, or Virginia's Piedmont, you can count on Tom Shumate Surveyor, based in Waynesboro, for all of your surveying needs at competitive prices.
